Description

Soft, fluffy, and subtly spiced baked apple donuts topped with a sweet glaze, perfect for breakfast or as an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the applesauce, sugar, brown sugar, and vegetable oil until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Fill the donut pan with the batter and bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  7. For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Dip the cooled donuts in the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off.

Notes

For added flavor, sprinkle some chopped nuts on top of the glaze or add a touch of cinnamon.
