Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lettuce leaves (e.g., Romaine or Butter lettuce)
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Gather and prepare all ingredients first. Finely chop the onion and bell pepper, grate the carrot, mince the garlic, and grate the ginger. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté 2–3 minutes until the onion becomes soft and fragrant.
  3. Add the ground turkey to the pan. Break it up with a spoon. Cook 5–6 minutes until browned and no longer pink.
  4. Stir in the grated carrot and chopped bell pepper. Cook 3–4 minutes until the vegetables soften but stay slightly crisp.
  5. Mix in a small bowl, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon grated ginger, and salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Pour the sauce over the turkey and vegetables. Cook 1–2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Spoon the warm turkey mixture into lettuce leaves. Top with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

For serving, let guests build their own wraps and provide lime wedges or sriracha on the side.
