Description
These fudgy red velvet brownies combine deep chocolate flavor with a tender, moist crumb and a bright red color, topped with cream cheese frosting for a delicious dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons red food coloring
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- Cream cheese frosting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan. Line the pan with parchment paper if you want easy lifting and cleaner edges.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until blended and free of lumps. Add the vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, and stir until smooth and glossy.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Stir in the red food coloring and chocolate chips until evenly colored and streak-free. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. The edges should be slightly pulled away from the pan.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares. If desired, spread cream cheese frosting over the cooled brownies.
Notes
Store frosted brownies in the fridge if using cream cheese frosting. For the best texture, warm slightly before serving.
