Description

A mouthwatering combination of marinated chicken, crisp vegetables, and creamy tzatziki, all wrapped in warm pita bread.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced cucumbers
  • Red onion, sliced
  • Feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cucumber (grated and drained)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for tzatziki)
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • Salt to taste (for tzatziki)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add chicken slices and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat a grill or pan over medium-high heat. Add marinated chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and no longer pink in the middle.
  3. Prepare the tzatziki by mixing Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, vinegar, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Warm pita bread. Assemble gyros with cooked chicken, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, crumbled feta, and tzatziki. Roll up and serve immediately.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Serve tzatziki on the side to prevent the pita from getting soggy.
