- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 to 4 tablespoons sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extracts. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients until combined.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls. Roll each ball in additional sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space between each ball, and flatten each cookie slightly.
- Bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until light golden. Let cool on wire racks.
Notes
For best texture, use softened butter. Dough can be frozen for up to 3 months.
