Description

A rich and savory dip featuring sweet, caramelized onions mixed with creamy cheese, perfect for parties or cozy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Slice the onions thin and evenly so they cook at the same rate.
  2. Combine the sour cream, softened cream cheese, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese in a mixing bowl. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the olive oil and butter to the hot skillet. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt, cooking until golden and deeply browned, about 20–25 minutes.
  4. Fold the cooled caramelized onions into the cheese mixture until well combined. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, sprinkle the remaining cheddar on top, and garnish with chopped chives.

Notes

Serve with chips, toasted bread, or fresh vegetables. Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
