- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the flour until combined.
- Fold in the chopped cherries and nuts (if using).
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden.
- While warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar to coat.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to one week or freeze for up to three months. Make sure to layer them with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
