A comforting lasagna with rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella, perfect for holiday gatherings.

- 12 lasagna noodles
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 egg
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Cook the ground beef or Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat, adding chopped onion and minced garlic until the meat is browned and onions are tender. Drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce. Allow to simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Combine the ricotta cheese, egg, chopped basil, oregano, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. In a baking dish, layer: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with mozzarella and parmesan on top.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
Let the lasagna rest for a few minutes for easier slicing. It can also be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
