Description
A fun, crunchy snack with a tangy zip and melty cheese center, perfect for game day or any savory craving.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup dill pickle slices
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Begin by draining the dill pickle slices and patting them dry with paper towels. Drying prevents splatter and helps the coating stick. Line a tray with paper towels for later.
- In a bowl, combine the shredded cheese and pickles. Set up a breading station: in one bowl, place the flour mixed with a pinch of salt and pepper; in another bowl, beat the egg; in a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs. Dip each pickle slice first in the flour, then the beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Press crumbs gently so they stick.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat until it shimmers (about 325–350°F / 160–175°C if using a thermometer). Fry the coated pickle bites in batches so they don’t crowd the pan. Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2–3 minutes per side. Turn carefully with tongs or a slotted spoon.
- Remove bites from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Serve with ranch, sriracha mayo, or honey mustard for dipping. Keep crispy by ensuring pickles are dry and maintain oil temperature while frying.
