Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into bars.
