Description

A classic comfort dish featuring hearty layers of ground beef, tender potatoes, and melted cheese, perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cups potatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the meat is browned, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until creamy.
  4. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, half of the beef mixture, and half of the shredded cheese. Repeat with the second half.
  5. Pour the soup mixture over the top layer of the casserole.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbling.

Notes

Serves well with a side salad or steamed vegetables. For storage, cool completely before transferring to an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 3–4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
