Description

These little heart thumbprint cookies are buttery, tender, and bright with jam, perfect for gifts, parties, or a cozy afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam (such as raspberry or strawberry)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet and make an indentation in each with your thumb. Fill with a small amount of fruit jam.
  5. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Cool before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 4–5 days. For best results, use room-temperature butter and don’t overmix once flour is added.
