Description

A thick, hearty pizza featuring a buttery crust filled with gooey cheese, savory sausage, and vibrant veggies, topped with rich marinara sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. <liGradually add warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. Roll out the dough and press it into a deep dish pizza pan, ensuring it covers the bottom and sides. Sprinkle half of the cheese on the bottom, then layer with cooked sausage, bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms.
  6. Pour the marinara sauce over the toppings and top with the remaining cheese. Sprinkle Italian seasoning on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store the pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat slices in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes.
