Description

A cozy, low-carb twist on a classic comfort dish featuring tender broccoli and cauliflower in a rich, creamy cheese sauce with savory sausage.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cups cauliflower florets
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 cup cooked sausage, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add broccoli and cauliflower and boil until slightly tender, about 5 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the cooked sausage and sauté for a few minutes until warmed and slightly browned. In a mixing bowl, whisk the heavy cream with garlic powder, salt, pepper, and half of the shredded cheese. Place the drained vegetables and sautéed sausage in a baking dish and pour the cream mixture evenly over the top.
  3. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese and the grated parmesan over the dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the top turns golden and the sauce is bubbly.
  4. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra browning, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end. Let the gratin rest before serving so the sauce firms up.
