Description

A bright, zesty dessert that comes together in minutes, this dump cake features a creamy lemon layer underneath a golden, moist cake.


Ingredients

  • 1 box lemon cake mix
  • 1 package cream cheese (8 oz), softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup lemon-lime soda
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for glaze, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, sour cream, and 1/2 cup sugar until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Pour the lemon cake mix over the cream cheese mixture, spreading evenly. Drizzle with melted butter and lemon-lime soda.
  4. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Optional: Whisk powdered sugar with lemon juice until smooth and drizzle over the warm cake before serving.

Notes

For a smoother glaze, sift powdered sugar first and add lemon juice slowly until desired thickness is reached. Serve warm or at room temperature.
