Description

Delightful twists on classic baklava incorporating rich pecans and warm maple syrup in flaky phyllo dough.


Ingredients

  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the chopped pecans, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough, brush it with melted butter, and repeat with three more sheets.
  4. Place a line of the pecan mixture on one end of the layered phyllo dough, roll it up tightly, and seal the edges.
  5. Place the roll on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and repeat with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. While baking, combine maple syrup and water in a saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Immediately pour the hot maple syrup mixture over the rolls after baking and allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to a week. They can be frozen for up to a month.
