Description
Decadently shiny candy apples with a striking black color and glittering finish, perfect for Halloween parties or festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large apples
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Black food coloring (optional)
- Edible gold glitter (for garnish)
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly and insert a stick into the top of each apple.
- In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water, and stir to combine.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved. Stop stirring and allow to boil until it reaches 300°F.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract and black food coloring if desired.
- Dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Once cooled, sprinkle with edible gold glitter for a glamorous finish.
Notes
Store apples in a cool, dry place for up to three days. Avoid refrigeration to prevent stickiness. Use firm, crisp apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
