Description

A comforting baked pasta dish with hearty meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella topped with bubbly cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
  • 1 can (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, Italian sausage, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the meat is no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the spaghetti, half of the meat sauce, half of the ricotta, and half of the mozzarella. Repeat the layers and top with Parmesan.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  6. Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For best results, let the dish rest after baking to firm up layers. Use whole-milk ricotta for richer texture.
