Description

Delicious bars that combine cinnamon-spiced apples and salted caramel in a buttery crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 34 medium apples (Fuji and Granny Smith recommended), sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup salted caramel sauce
  • Sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Cut in softened butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. In another bowl, toss sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Spread over crust and drizzle with salted caramel sauce.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes until apples are tender and edges are golden. Cool completely before slicing and sprinkle with sea salt before serving.
