- 40 Saltine crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- Optional: Chopped nuts, sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange Saltine crackers in a single layer.
- Melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until it boils. Let boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Pour toffee mixture over crackers, spreading evenly. Bake for 5-7 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over hot toffee. Allow to melt for a few minutes.
- Spread melted chocolate evenly over the toffee layer. Sprinkle with nuts and sea salt if desired.
- Let cool completely, then break into pieces.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. Refrigerate for longer freshness but note the texture may soften.
