Description
Festive macaron treats designed like Santa Claus, combining sweet almond flavor with fun, whimsical decoration, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 3 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Red food coloring
- Buttercream or ganache for filling
- Candy eyes
- Marshmallows (for hats)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar in a bowl. In another bowl, whip the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar, whipping until glossy with stiff peaks.
- Fold the sifted almond flour mixture into the whipped egg whites. Add vanilla extract and red food coloring, mixing until combined and thick.
- Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto the prepared sheets. Let them rest for 20-30 minutes to form a skin.
- Bake the macarons for 15-18 minutes. Allow cooling before removal.
- Match macaron shells. Fill half with buttercream or ganache, then top with the other half. Decorate with candy eyes and marshmallows.
Notes
Use room temperature egg whites for better volume. Don’t skip the resting period for smooth tops. Experiment with color variations for different themes.
