A comforting and hearty Shepherd’s Pie made with tender meat, vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup peas
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground lamb or beef. Add the chopped onion, diced carrots, and minced garlic, cooking until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the peas, tomato paste, broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let simmer until well combined.
- Boil the cubed potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper.
- Spread the meat mixture into a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For extra crispy top, broil for 1-2 minutes after baking.
