Description
A lighter, bowl-style take on the classic smash burger, packed with beefy flavor, melty cheese, and fresh crunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Burger buns, torn into pieces or croutons
- Shredded lettuce
- Tomato, diced
- Pickles, sliced
- Cheddar cheese, shredded
- Onion, diced
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Mayonnaise
Instructions
- Gather ingredients and chop vegetables. Tear the burger buns into bite-sized pieces or prepare croutons. Shred the cheddar if needed. Divide toppings into bowls for quick assembly.
- Gently form the ground beef into loose 8- to 10-ball portions (do not overwork). Season each loose ball lightly with salt and pepper on the outside just before cooking.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef balls, then press each ball flat with a spatula to form thin patties (smash). Cook until well browned and cooked through, about 3–4 minutes per side. Work in batches if needed so the pan stays hot and the patties get a good crust.
- Layer torn bun pieces or croutons in serving bowls. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, pickles, and diced onion. Place the hot smashed patties on top. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar so it melts. Drizzle ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise over the bowl as desired. Serve immediately while the patties are warm and the bun pieces are still slightly crisp.
Notes
For a fun twist, customize with toppings like fried eggs or different cheeses. Serve warm for the best experience.
