Description
A bright, creamy twist on a classic breakfast featuring soft bread filled with sweet cream cheese and fresh strawberries, pan-fried to golden perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices of bread
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup strawberries, sliced
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp butter
- Powdered sugar, for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and sliced strawberries until well combined. Spread the cream cheese mixture on two slices of bread, then top with the other two slices to make a sandwich.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then place in the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve the sandwiches warm, dusted with powdered sugar and extra sliced strawberries if desired.
Notes
For best results, use slightly stale bread for better texture and allow the assembled sandwiches to chill briefly before cooking to minimize filling leakage.
