Description

Golden, cheesy patties made with tuna and cheddar, perfect for a quick lunch or party snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans of tuna, drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Drain the tuna well and flake it into a large bowl. Dice the onion and celery small. Beat the egg in a small bowl.
  2. Add mayonnaise, diced onion, diced celery, shredded cheese, and beaten egg to the flaked tuna. Stir until even, then gradually stir in breadcrumbs until firm enough to form patties. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Form the mixture into 4 patties. When the oil shimmers, add the patties without crowding. Fry for 4–5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. If desired, add cheese during the last minute of cooking to melt. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Chill patties for 10 minutes if mixture is soft before frying to help them hold their shape.
