Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh asparagus spears, ends trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Start by washing your asparagus under cold running water and patting the spears dry with a paper towel. Snap off the woody, fibrous bottom ends—usually about an inch or two from the base. In a large mixing bowl or directly on a rimmed baking sheet, toss the asparagus with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Ensure every spear is evenly coated so the seasonings stick during the cooking process.
  2. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about two minutes. Place the seasoned asparagus in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary to ensure proper airflow. Air fry the asparagus for 6 to 8 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, shake the basket or use tongs to flip the spears. This ensures they brown evenly on all sides.
  3. Once the asparagus is tender and the tips are slightly charred, remove them from the air fryer. Immediately sprinkle the fresh Parmesan cheese over the hot spears so it melts slightly. Transfer the asparagus to a serving platter. Squeeze a fresh lemon wedge over the top to brighten the flavors and serve immediately while the cheese is warm and the spears are crispy.
