Warm, chewy, and lightly salty little pillows of dough that are perfect for dipping.
Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- Coarse sea salt (for sprinkling)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions
- Combine warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar in a bowl; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in flour and salt until dough comes together; knead on floured surface for 5 minutes.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add baking soda.
- Cut dough into small pieces, boil for 30 seconds, and remove with a slotted spoon.
- Brush with egg and sprinkle with salt; bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
Notes
Serve with dipping sauces like mustard or cheese dip. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
