- 1 pound flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 green onions, chopped (reserve some for garnish)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium works well)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients by slicing flank steak thinly across the grain and tossing with cornstarch until coated.
- Mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, and water in a bowl until sugar dissolves.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and add beef, searing for 3-4 minutes until browned.
- Add minced garlic and chopped green onions and cook for an additional minute.
- Pour the soy sauce mixture over beef and simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens, then stir in sesame oil.
Notes
Serve hot garnished with reserved green onions. Pair with steamed rice or fried rice for a complete meal.
